Welcome to my shop, my labor of love!

A Dose of Simple Shop is about surrounding oneself with beautiful things— whether they be everyday objects or things that one encounters on special occasions.  It is borne out of my belief that having control of what we see around us influences  how we feel. Therefore, seeing or using beautiful things will make us feel beautiful and ultimately joyful as well.

 

But where can we find joy? 

 

Joy can be found everywhere! And one can see it in obvious places.  But I look for it in things crafted by hand—

 

a stoneware cup that still has the imprint of its maker’s finger print...

 

each shape carved on a wooden box and preserved under a beautiful coating of lacquer...

 

a minuscule mistake left on a hand-painted cup...

 

a wayward thread on a hand-loomed blanket that somehow escaped the attention of its weaver.

Needless to say, I am an avid collector of  handmade objects. I always value the time and effort put in a handmade piece no matter how small.

I am especially in awe of the craftsmanship of Japanese masters and the fascinating way they elevate their craft. 

 

This is why most of the things that you’ll see in this shop are handmade, personally sourced from various shops and flea markets around the Philippines and abroad. Each item has been carefully picked, lovingly cared for and stored inside a smoke-free home. I intentionally keep my stocks low to make sure that each item is inspected and appraised properly. I’ve also tapped some very talented makers to sell their creations here.
